Your French Bakery
in Edinburgh
A genuine artisan bakery in the heart of Edinburgh's Southside. Real bread, made the slow way.
We are a wee artisan bakery, born out of our love of real, good bread. Everything is made by hand using traditional methods — slow fermentation, quality grains, no shortcuts.
Our Breads & Pastries
Baked fresh every morning. Come early — popular lines sell out.
Sourdough & Rye
Our signature sourdoughs are slow-fermented with our house starters, Otis and Heather. The rye sourdough is dense, flavourful, and keeps beautifully for days.
Baguettes & Country Bread
Proper French baguettes with a thin, crackling crust and an open, airy crumb. Our country bread (pain de campagne) is a weekly staple for many of our regulars.
Croissants & Viennoiserie
Buttery croissants, pain au chocolat, brioche, and our legendary cinnamon buns — all made with Graham's Dairy butter and laminated by hand.
Fougasse & Pizzettas
Provençal-style fougasse and individual pizzettas — great for a quick lunch or to share. Fillings change with the seasons.
Sweet Treats
Macarons, tartlettes, cakes, biscuits, nougat — and croutons made from yesterday's bread so nothing is wasted. Plus soup from Union of Genius for when the weather calls for it.
A bakery with a story
Katia trained as a baker in France before bringing her craft to Edinburgh's Southside. Since opening in 2012, the Wee Boulangerie has become a fixture on Clerk Street — a place where neighbours come for their morning bread and stay for a chat.
We work with the best suppliers we can find: FWP Matthews and Shipton Mills for our flour, Scotland the Bread for ancient heritage grains, and Graham's Dairy for butter. We believe you can taste the difference.

Community & Giving
We believe a bakery should look after its neighbourhood.
No food waste
Leftover bread becomes croutons. Whatever remains goes to Cyrenians and other local charities. Nothing is wasted.
Supporting local causes
We donate to Cyrenians, Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home, and the Edinburgh Food Project. If you have a cause you'd like us to consider, get in touch.
Quality ingredients
We choose suppliers who share our values — traditional millers, heritage grain growers, and local dairy. Short supply chains, better bread.
Part of the Southside
We've been on Clerk Street since 2012. This neighbourhood is our home, and we love being part of it.
